01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Cozumel’s Centro district, Guisados is a culinary gem that beautifully blends authentic Mexican taco craftsmanship with a warm, family-style dining experience. While its location on Av Lic Benito Juárez might suggest a casual eatery, what you find inside is a vibrant celebration of Oaxaca-inspired flavors that truly tantalize the taste buds.

This taco restaurant delights visitors with an impressive variety of fillings served on tender blue corn tortillas, adding a delightful earthiness to every bite. Guests consistently rave about the mole options, with their richness and complexity standing out as a testament to traditional Mexican culinary artistry. Whether it’s the mole con pollo drenched in a silky, spice-laden sauce or the hearty vegetarian mole, Guisados offers an elegant depth of flavor that is both comforting and memorable.

Each taco arrives paired with perfectly cooked rice, making for a balanced and satisfying meal. The fresh guacamole, prepared to order, adds a creamy brightness that complements the smoky and savory profiles of the meats and vegetables. From chuleta and chicharrón prensado to delightful combinations like papa con chorizo and nopales con champiñones, the menu invites adventurous palates to explore a spectrum of textures and tastes.

What truly elevates Guisados beyond just a place to eat is its inviting atmosphere. Described by customers as a small, family-run haven, the restaurant boasts not only excellent food but also genuine warmth and friendliness from its staff. Hearing about “Mama” cooking fresh food offers a comforting, home-cooked charm that makes every visit feel intimate and special.

Visitors like srinjana dhar and Andre Uncharted praise the staff's natural hospitality and wish for a second meal to savor more of the offerings—an endorsement of both quality and service that draws guests back time and again. The informal, lively setting combined with affordable prices ensures that Guisados is accessible for both locals and tourists seeking a taste of authentic Mexican street cuisine with a touch of elegance.

For anyone exploring Cozumel, Guisados is not just a meal stop; it’s a vibrant experience where traditional flavors and heartfelt hospitality merge beautifully. Whether it’s your first taco or your hundredth, this delightful spot promises a memorable and soulful dining adventure.

Another amazing Local Taqueria where Mama was cooking fresh food! They had a huge variety of options to pick from but my favorite was the mole as the depth of flavors was so unique and rich yet so elegant all at the same time! The serve the tacos in a blue corn tortilla & with rice!

I’m with the majority of the reviews. Food is really good. Blue tortillas are nice and I think the chicken mole was my top pick. Everything was really good though. Best of all the staff is very friendly and good natured. Wish I had time to eat there a second time!

First night here in Cozumel and we were looking for something delicious and authentic - and we found it! This little place is geared towards more traditional, authentic flavors and styles, and the results were amazing! My wife got the mole con pollo y la mole con vegetales - both were amazing! I got the chuleta, chicharrón prensado, papa con chorizo y nopales con champiñones - all were amazing. They had good salsas, for the topping and the tortillas are hand made there at the shop using a traditional blue corn that we don’t see super often. I highly recommend that you visit this little spot!

Small family style restaurant. The food was delicious. It's all tacos, just choose your meat. Order the Guacamole, it's made fresh when ordered. Great prices and friendly service

We absolutely loved eating here, and ate here every night of our stay in Cozumel. All of the tacos are 40 pesos, and there are a multitude of options, including 5 vegetarian, which is the most I’ve seen so far whilst travelling Mexico! The staff are incredibly welcoming. They speak English, but were patient with us learning to speak Spanish too. Our favourite tacos were the chili, mole with vegetables, fajita and pork chop! Genuinely some of my favourite food during this month in Mexico!!

A quaint, colorful little taco spot with a great local vibe and five different vegan taco options. I tried three – Chili, Mexican Style Pumpkins, and my favorite, Mole with Vegetables. The Mole taco absolutely stole the show, rich, deep flavor with that perfect hint of chocolate and spice. Honestly, it should be their signature vegan taco (if it isn’t already!). The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and even loved on our pup, it’s a very dog-friendly spot where we felt completely welcome. Mauricio was a great server and even gave suggestion on the order he recommended eating the 3 tacos. The décor has that artsy charm, and the food feels like it’s made straight from the heart. Check out the art above the toilet. cute! I’d definitely come back for the Mole with Vegetables tacos.

Amazing variety of tacos- the pork and cactus was my favorite. Authentic mole. 43 pesos per taco but they are so good. 3-4 is usually enough. Amazing Authentic Flavor. Not your typical taco place
